What's My Shoe Size?

Finding the right size footwear can be challenging, especially with the variety of differences out there between brands, manufacturers and countries. It doesn't help that the style of shoe or boot may also affect fit and comfort.

To get the best fit possible a custom made shoe is recommended but in its absence a standard size shoe will work for many. Determining your standard size can be achieved, to some extent, with the aid of a few foot measurements.

Measure Your Feet First

Measure your feet using paper, pen, ruler and/or a tape measure. If you don't have a tape measure, a piece of string will do. It's recommended to measure both feet as one may be larger than the other. For handmade-to-order or bespoke footwear orders, every pair can be tailored to suit the specific size of each foot if they differ.

Determine Your Size: Length

Find the foot length you measured in millimetres in the Shoe Size Chart: Length below. Follow a line up to determine your best EU size or down for Canada/US and UK sizes.

For example, if your foot length measures 260mm, size 41 EU or 9.5/10 US Ladies(8.5/9 Gentlemen) and 7.5/8 UK will most likely fit best for rounded toe and flat-4cm heeled footwear. You may need to go up a half or full size for tapered/pointed toe footwear styles. Alternatively, a wider size may be better in this case.

It's also important to note that the foot rests differently in higher heeled footwear than in flats. Choosing a half size up from your flat shoe size for mid-heels (5cm-8cm height) and a full size up for stilettos (9cm-12cm height) is recommended.

The following formulas can also be used to determine shoe size:

EU shoe size = (foot length in cm x 1.5) + 2

US/Canada ladies shoe size = (foot length in inches x 3) - 21

US/Canada gentlemen's shoe size = (foot length in inches x 3) - 22

UK shoe size = (foot length in inches x 3) - 23

Though there are many more sizes used around the world, the sizes listed in the following chart encompass what shoe mold sizes the Torger brand uses to create their footwear on.

Determine Your Shoe Width

In addition to the length, the width of your foot must also be considered when determining the best fit. Find the foot width you measured in millimetres in the Shoe Size Chart: Width below. Width measurements are based around the whole foot at the widest part, not just the bottom.
